    Thurs., Sept. 29, 05
    12:30pm - 2:30pm
    Salt Pond Seining

Students use a 40-foot seining net to collect organisms that live in the salt pond. Students then examine the catch and identify each organism. In the process they learn about its habits and how it is adapted to live in the salt pond, how it feeds, avoids predators by using camoflage as well as its place in the food web. We also discuss the impact of changes in the pond over time and the effects of human presence at the pond from Native Americans to present concerns of pollution, recreational use and development.

This is as real as it gets folks! Space is very limited and there will be no additional bookings for this program this year.
